Byron Sharp Honored at International Marketing Day

Today, the European Marketing Confederation (EMC) celebrates the first International Marketing Day. The annual day was created to underline the importance of marketing for business and society. The Lifetime Achievement Award for Marketing was also presented to Byron Sharp.

Today, the European Marketing Confederation (EMC) celebrates the first International Marketing Day. The annual day was created to underline the importance of marketing for business and society. The Lifetime Achievement Award for Marketing was also presented to Byron Sharp.

Dr. Sharp, known worldwide as the author of the groundbreaking book How Brands Grow and director of the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science, is praised for his scientific approach to marketing. "His influence on the profession is enormous. He challenges marketers to let go of intuition and put science first. His dedication to evidence and his courage to challenge established ideas make him a more than worthy winner," said Ralf Strauss, president of the EMC.

The award was presented at the EMC board meeting in Dublin on 23 May. Martin Huisman, COO of EMC, added: 'Everyone in marketing knows How Brands Grow . His ideas about mental and physical availability have changed marketing strategies worldwide.'
