Professor Byron Sharp

Professor of Marketing Science and Director of the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute.

His first book How Brands Grow: what marketers don’t know has been called one of the most influential marketing books of the past decade (Warc, 2015) and was voted marketing book of the year by AdAge readers. In 2015 he published the follow-up How Brands Grow Part 2 with Professor Jenni Romaniuk.

His research has been reported in The Economist, Bloomberg, Forbes, and the Financial Times.

Byron has co-hosted, with Professor Jerry Wind, two conferences at the Wharton Business School on the laws of advertising, and is on the editorial board of five journals.

Professor Jenni Romaniuk

Research Professor of Marketing and Associate Director (International) at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute.

As the key architect behind the Ehrenberg-Bass approaches to Distinctive Asset, Category Entry Point and Mental Availability measurement, Jenni has worked with companies all over the world to help them build stronger brands. She has written three books: Building Distinctive Brand Assets, which helps marketers to future-proof their brand’s identity, How Brands Grow Part 2 which builds on the knowledge revolution started in How Brands Grow and her new book, Better Brand Health provides a valuable resource for those looking to get the most out of their brand health tracking.

Jenni’s expertise spans mental and physical availability, brand equity, brand health tracking, word-of-mouth and advertising effectiveness. She was editor of the Journal of Advertising Research from 2014-2016, and now sits on the Journal’s Senior Advisory Board.

Dr Justin Cohen

Senior Marketing Scientist at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute.

Justin Cohen is a senior marketing scientist at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science and a senior lecturer at UniSA Business at the University of South Australia with a focus on MBA level teaching and executive development.

His expertise is in brand growth, emerging markets (in particular, China), advertising, retailing and beverage marketing. He has international experience both as a practitioner and researcher which helps him to provide transformational, evidence-based strategies for his clients. He has experience working with brands, industry bodies and governments solving complex problems and adopting the Institute’s framework for sustainable growth.

Justin’s work can be found in the Journal of Advertising Research, Psychology & Marketing, Australasian Marketing Journal, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research and the European Journal of Marketing, among other journals.

How Brands Grow - for Executives

No, this experience is only offered in-person.

How Brands Grow Live! is conducted in English and the participants are required to be proficient in spoken and written English to attend.

We are unable to provide advice on entry visa matters. We recommend you check directly with your embassy to determine whether you need an entry visa for the country where How Brands Grow Live! is conducted.

Recording the sessions is not permitted.

After successful completion, you will receive a certificate of completion.

The profiles of attendees are private and confidential. Part of the program is creating a supported environment for knowledge sharing and networking with likeminded individuals. The program is a safe space for people to learn, unpack their challenges and discover opportunities to achieve sustainable growth. It is not intended to be a forum for business development.

Application Process

To apply to How Brands Grow Live!, please submit the online application form. Select your preferred location, click on the “Apply” button and provide your details. The Admissions Committee will review your application and notify you of their decision via email within two weeks.
Upon acceptance, sign the agreement within 7 days, and settle the program fee within 14 days of receiving the invoice.

The admissions are made on a rolling, space available basis, hence early application is strongly encouraged. The application closes 2 weeks before the commencement date.

Payment and cancellation

Upon acceptance to How Brands Grow Live!, payment is due 14 days from the invoice date. Accepted payment methods are electronic bank wire transfer and credit card. Detailed information regarding payment will be included with your invoice.

You will be required to arrange your own travel, incidentals and transfers to the respective venues.

The fee for How Brands Grow Live! is fixed. There are no exemptions for requests of fees that exclude accommodation. Our idea is to create an immersive experience that fosters out-of-class discussions and meaningful connections among the participants, hence we encourage everyone to stay at the designated hotel. It’s not mandatory, but regardless of the accommodation choice, the price remains the same.

No, financial assistance is not available.

The Institute does not offer a cancellation option. However, you have the flexibility to defer your participation to another How Brands Grow Live! commencing within a 12 month period of your original start date, subject to giving us at least 8 weeks notice in writing.

Logistics and facilities

To foster out-of-class discussions and networking, the participants are encouraged to stay in the hotel booked by the Institute.

Rooms for the participants are exclusively reserved for the program dates. Check-in is possible starting at 3 pm on the program’s commencement day, and check-out is required in the morning on the final day. 

If you plan to arrive at the hotel before the designated time or extend your stay, please coordinate and book directly with the hotel.
